CHEYENNE,Wyo.— With Independence Day falling in the middle of the week, the Cheyenne Police Department will be conducting DUI Task forces on the weekends before and after the holiday as well as the 4th of July to deter people from driving impaired. The Cheyenne Police Department along with Wyoming Highway Patrol, Wyoming State Parks and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office will be on the lookout for impaired drivers throughout Cheyenne.

In addition to looking for impaired drivers the CPD is reminding citizens that with the exceptions of sparklers and smoke devices, fireworks are not legal within city limits. Illegal fireworks will be confiscated and could result in a $225 citation. For anyone planning to legally set off fireworks outside of the city limits, be sure to check for red flag warnings or fireworks bans before using your fireworks.

The CPD wishes everyone a happy 4th of July, but remember that it is never okay to drink and drive. Think before you drink! If you see a drunk driver on the road, call 307-637-6525 to report them.
