Cheyenne, WY— A southeastern Wyoming cattle rancher has pledged $450,000 to the Cheyenne Regional Foundation to benefit the neonatal and pediatric units at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Foundation officials recently announced.
“The donor, who asked to remain anonymous, made the pledge in memory of his late wife, who was passionate about helping children,” said Victoria Fry, the Foundation’s director of major gifts and planned giving.
A portion of the pledge will be used to purchase the following equipment for the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit:
• Two ventilators to provide life-saving support for newborns with respiratory failure
• Two Bubble CPAP machines for infants who need breathing assistance
The remainder of the pledge will be deposited in an endowed fund that provides medical care and equipment for terminally ill, critically ill and physically disabled infants and children in Cheyenne and Laramie County.
“It’s very hard on families when they have to live away from home for weeks and months at a time to be with a critically ill child being cared for out of state. This donation will allow more babies and children from our community to be cared for here in Cheyenne, where their families can receive the support and assistance they need,” Fry said.
So far the Foundation has received $100,000 of the pledge. The remainder will be paid early next year.
“We want to thank the donor for making such a generous contribution. Our community is going to benefit from this gift for many, many years to come.”
