Citizens Trained to Monitor Speeding in Cheyenne Neighborhoods

The Cheyenne Police Department is turning to concerned citizens to help solve the problem of speeding in Cheyenne neighborhoods. The neighborhood speed watch program allows citizens to take an active role in addressing speeding in their neighborhoods. Dan Long, Public Information Officer for the Cheyenne Police Department says interested citizens are taught how to use a radar gun to vehicle speeds in their area.

Long says once information is gathered the Cheyenne Police Department can use selective traffic patrols if it shows there is excessive speeding in certain neighborhoods.

Long says citizens will not be allowed to write citations or attempt to pull anyone over, they will just collect data. Anyone interested in the neighborhood speed watch should call the police department at 637-6512.
