City-wide Private Tree Inventory in Progress

Source: Rooted in Cheyenne Facebook

City   5-22-18

The Cheyenne Urban Forestry Division along with Plan-it Geo are conducting a private tree inventory over the next 7-10 days. Staff from Plan-it Geo will be knocking on doors to give information to residents about the inventory and to ask for permission to access private trees. Staff may need to enter backyards to inventory trees properly. The information gained from this inventory will assist Cheyenne Urban Forestry in better understanding the tree population on private land in Cheyenne. As a component of the City of Cheyenne’s Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan, this inventory will give more accurate statistics on ash trees in Cheyenne. This information will assist the City in planning for Emerald Ash Borer.

Plan-it Geo has contracted with the City of Cheyenne in the past and inventoried many of Cheyenne‘s parks in 2015. The City currently utilizes Tree Plotter, which is an online tree inventory program developed by Plan-it Geo. The public can access this program at Cheyenne Urban Forestry Division’s website: www.cheyennetrees.com

If you have any questions about the private tree inventory, please contact the Cheyenne Urban Forestry Division at 637-6428. Citizen cooperation in helping the City to better understand and manage our community forest in the future is much appreciated.
