KANSAS CITY, Mo.– The University of Wyoming women’s soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year, the NSCAA announced Wednesday. It was the fifth time the Cowgirls have been recognized for the award and first time since 2013.
Wyoming is one of 554 collegiate women soccer teams that posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
“The success in the classroom comes from the entire athletic department,” UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. “It’s something that we take pride in and are very proud of. I give kudos to the players and kudos to our academic support staff.”
The Cowgirls posted a 3.24 grade point average during the academic year. From 2008 to 2010, UW earned the award three consecutive years and one more time in 2013.
Wyoming was among three other Mountain West programs to be recognized. Nevada (3.13), UNLV (3.19) and Utah State (3.51) were the other three conference teams to earn the award.
