PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico (Sept. 12, 2015) – The Wyoming tennis team finished up its first weekend of the fall season at the Iberostar College Cup on Saturday morning. The Cowgirls were paired up for individual matches in singles and doubles against the Lamar Cardinals.
The Cowgirls came away with two victories in singles play highlighted by wins from Nastya Tokareva and Tessa van der Ploeg. Tokareva defeated Talisa Merchiers in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, while van der Ploeg beat Luciana Dilaura del la Torre, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
Dorottay Jonas lost in a battle, 6-3, 7-5, to Kayta Lapayeva followed by Teodora Stefanovic over Miranda Talbert, 6-4, 6-3. In doubles action, Magdalena Stencel and Elisa Koonik fell 6-4, 7-6 against Anna Spengler and Andrea Ivanovic.
Wyoming will return to action on Friday at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs.
