CHEYENNE,Wyo.— The Cheyenne Police Department is investigating a fatal crash which occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of E. 9th St. and I-180. The driver of a red Dodge Durango, Maria Aguilar, 49, of Cheyenne, sustained serious injuries in the crash and could not be revived.
The crash occurred when Aguilar’s vehicle was southbound on the Central Avenue Viaduct, crossed a raised median into the northbound lane of I-180 and struck a tree on the east side of the road. Aguilar was the only occupant of her vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Investigators have spoken with multiple witnesses, but anyone with information who has not spoken with law enforcement is asked to call Officer Ehlman at 307-633-6636.
An accident reconstruction of this crash is being performed. The investigation accounts for speeds and driver impairment as well as any other factors which could have caused the crash. This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
