Deputy Saves a Life

A Laramie County Sheriff’s Department deputy is being credited for saving an injured hunter’s life. On October 29, deputies responded to a call from an injured hunter. Lt. Kevin James, with the department, says the hunter from Colorado had accidentally shot himself in the foot. When deputies arrived, the hunter had lost a lot of blood and direct pressure to the wound wasn’t working. James says the deputies applied a tourniquet which slowed the amount of blood being lost.

James says all Laramie County Sheriff’s deputies carry, and are trained to use, a tourniquet.

The hunter is expected to make a full recovery.
