The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is encouraging employers in Wyoming to participate in a National Safety Stand-Down May 8-12. This annual voluntary event aims to prevent injuries caused by falls from elevation.
<br><br>Companies can conduct a Safety Stand-Down by holding safety-related discussions with employees or by participating in safety activities such as conducting additional safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans or discussing job specific hazards. <br><br>
“In Wyoming, falls from height continue to be a leading cause of fatalities and injuries in the construction industry,” said DWS Standards and Compliance Administrator Jason Wolfe. “Simply taking the time to have a conversation to raise awareness and reinforce the importance of fall protection can help employers make meaningful progress in their efforts to foster a safety culture.”<br><br>
DWS OSHA Consultation and the Workers’ Compensation Safety and Risk Unit (WCSRU) offer safety advisors who provide free, expert safety and health advice to Wyoming businesses and public sector employers at the request of the employer.
