CASPER, Wyo. (AP) – Wyoming U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi is praising fellow Sen. John Barrasso amid speculation Barrasso could face challengers in next year’s Republican primary.
Wyoming U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney isn’t weighing in but Enzi tells the Casper Star-Tribune (http://bit.ly/2zfvFDP) Barrasso’s job performance has been excellent.
Two Republicans with ties to former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon say they’re thinking about running. They are Jackson financier Foster Friess and Blackwater security company founder Erik Prince, who has a home west of Cody.
Bannon criticizes Barrasso for not doing enough to criticize another Republican, Tennessee U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, after Corker called the Trump White House an “adult day care center.”
A Barrasso spokesman says Barrasso disagrees with Corker’s remark. A spokeswoman for Cheney says Cheney won’t comment on a hypothetical primary race.
