The Wyoming Chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, or NORML, is sponsoring an effort to get the legalization of pot on the 2016 general election ballot.
Chris Christian is Wyoming NORML’s executive director. She filed the paper work yesterday with the Secretary of State office that could lead to a petition drive to get the issue up for a vote.
“The people of this State don’t have a voice through their legislature,” said Christian. “They have done everything they can in this State to stop us from doing this. This is the most stringently required State in the Union to bring forth a ballot initiative. What I want is to make history in Wyoming that the people have a voice.”
The Secretary of State’s office will decide whether to accept the application, and if approved over 25 thousand signatures will be needed to put the issue on the 2016 ballot.
