Wyoming State Troopers were busy, while wearing green as always, over the St. Patrick’s Day extended holiday weekend throughout the state. From March 17th through March 19th, WHP Troopers conducted 1,139 traffic stops. From those stops, 17 impaired drivers were arrested.
During the three day weekend, zero fatal crashes were investigated by Patrol.
Troopers were primarily focused on identifying impaired drivers and other violations that impact highway safety such as nonuse of child and occupant restraints, speeding and other moving violations. Over the weekend, 443 citations for speeding were issued and 65 seat belts violations were cited.
Troopers utilized federal highway safety grant DUI overtime during that time to increase law enforcement presence in Wyoming to help identify impaired drivers and other concerns of highway safety.
Dispatchers with the Wyoming Highway Patrol Dispatch Center also stayed very busy as they dispatched 1,862 events and fielded 1,901 phone calls over the extended holiday weekend. 43 of those dispatched calls were for REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) reports from concerned citizens doing their part to keep our highways safe.
