Today is traditionally Tax Day, the deadline to file a federal income tax return, but the deadline is pushed to Monday due to a Washington, D.C., holiday. Gone are the long lines at the post office, says Karen Connelly of the IRS. E-filing is becoming the preferred method of filing tax returns.
Connelly says one reason someone might be waiting to file a federal tax return is because they have to pay and can’t afford it. There are payment options available.
Connelly says to always double check your return for math mistakes and to make sure all provided information is correct.
