The Cheyenne Police Department arrested a Laramie woman on March 25 who was involved in an abuse of a vulnerable adult case. Linda Freeman, 50, formerly of Cheyenne, was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Facility on a felony exploitation of a vulnerable adult charge.

Freeman allegedly withdrew, transferred and converted to her own property nearly $700,000 of her father-in-law’s assets over a four year period before and after his death. The money, which was moved to Freeman’s accounts between 2004 and 2007, was used to buy properties and other assets. Over $91,000 was transferred or withdrawn by Freeman from her father-in-law’s accounts after his death, but should have been poured-over to the estate as directed by her father-in-law’s last will.

Exploitation of a vulnerable adult is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and registration of the offender’s name on the central registry. This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
