Laramie County School District 1 students will be getting out earlier this year. A new school calendar has the final day of school this year as May 26th. Assistant superintendent of Laramie County School District 1 Dr. Tracy Kinney says the district had a number of reasons why they wanted to go with the earlier end date.
Kinney says the district had to shorten spring break, and the Christmas break to come up with the days so school could get out at the end of may, but she says this calendar is not going to be the calendar the school uses in the future, because residents want to go back to the longer breaks.
Kinney says it was a two year process to come up the school calendar that is being used this year
