A 37 year old man from Andover, Minnesota was taken into custody by Troopers on August 23rd after Patrol received multiple calls from concerned citizens about the man at the state parking garage at 310 West 24th Street in Cheyenne.

Around 1:00 p.m. on the 23rd, Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol Capitol Protective Services Division responded to the state parking garage at 310 West 24th Street in Cheyenne for multiple calls about a shirtless man acting strangely in the parking garage. One caller had advised that the man had attempted to take his wallet.

A Trooper was able to locate 37 year old Jeffrey Larson in the parking garage seated in a car. The initial Trooper on scene attempted to speak with Larson and was immediately met with Larson swiping at the Trooper with a knife as Larson stayed seated in the vehicle. The Trooper was able to back away from the vehicle and draw his handgun on Larson while giving Larson commands. Larson immediately dropped the knife in the vehicle and then locked himself in the car.

After a brief negotiation of about five minutes, Larson eventually surrendered and was taken into custody by Troopers.

Larson was transported to the Laramie County Detention Center in Cheyenne and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

As in the past, Troopers will continue to patrol the parking garage at 310 West 24th Street in Cheyenne where the event occurred and are planning to increase patrols in the area after the occurrence of this isolated event.
