Murder Charges In Cheyenne Double Shooting

A.P.-4-14,2015

Laramie County prosecutors say jealousy may have been the motive in the weekend shooting death of a Cheyenne woman.

Court records say 26-year-old Daniel Guajardo faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of his former girlfriend, 26-year-old Jessica Spencer. Prosecutors also plan to charge him with attempted first-degree murder for shooting 24-year-old Sam Cook.

Prosecutors say Cook told police Guajardo came to their residence and started banging on the front door. When they didn’t answer, Guajardo broke in. Cook says he escaped through a window, but was shot in the shoulder.

He says he was lying on the ground, faking death, when he heard another shot inside the house. Spencer’s body was found inside.

Police spokesman Dan Long says Guajardo and Spencer have children together.

Guajardo was arrested in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Sunday evening.
