The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department says the search for the body of 13 month old Silas Ojeda in a pond and manure pile near Laramie County Community College came up with nothing.
Lt. Don Hollingshead says three volunteer divers searched the bottom of a 10 to 30 foot deep pond at LCCC for nearly two hours in zero visibility and came up empty. Hollingshead says a large manure pile was also searched with no results.
The search of the pond began around 9am Wednesday after investigators received information the body of the toddler might be there. Cadaver dogs were brought in and hit on something in the manure pile and near the pond.
The search at LCCC came just days after authorities ended the search for the 13 month old at a landfill in Ault, Colorado.
23 year old Logan Hunter Rogers of Cheyenne is charged in the death of the boy. Rogers is the boyfriend of the boy’s mother. He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment with a controlled substance in Silas Ojeda’s death. Rogers told authorities he dumped the body of Ojeda in a dumpster at LCCC.
Hollingshead says investigators will continue with the case and search every lead.
