The Cheyenne Police Department captured a man on Sept. 5 at Flying J, located at 2250 Etchepare Drive, who was on the Texas Department of Public Safety top ten fugitive list.
Ernest Smith, 46-years-old, was arrested and booked in the Laramie County Detention Facility for a parole violation for an original charge of aggravated sexual assault on a minor.
Smith was contacted by Cheyenne Police after he was contacted in reference to a disturbance that was reported at the Flying J truck stop. Smith initially provided a false name to officers on scene but his true identity was eventually found.
Smith, who is a sexually violent predator, removed his ankle monitor on Aug. 27 and fled from a Houston halfway house. His criminal history includes aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child and escape.
