Three men were injured in a flash fire northeast of Cheyenne Monday morning.
Lori Hogan, public information officer for Laramie County Fire District Number 2, says the incident happened about 9:30 AM about a mile south of U.S. Highway 85 near county road 135. Hogan says the men were welding at an oil facility when natural gas in a line caught fire and exploded.
“Upon arrival there were three patients all having severe burns to 20 to 30 percent of their bodies. They were welding in the area, and when they hit the natural gas line it exploded, which resulted in the flash fire. It was extinguished immediately before fire crews arrived on the scene”
One of the injured welders was air lifted by helicopter to the burn unit at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. The other two were transported by ground to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
