Skateboards can be used as a mode of transportation in downtown Cheyenne. The Cheyenne City Council voted Monday to amend a City ordinance that prohibited the use of skateboards in downtown Cheyenne. Under the new ordinance, if skateboarders are going to use their boards as anything other than a mode of transportation they need to get a property owner’s written permission.
City Councilman Jeff White, who voted in favor of the change, says skateboarding will not be allowed where a property owner has posted a sign.
White adds that this ordinance is similar to ones in surrounding communities.
Opponents of the change in the ordinance say there are safety concerns with having skateboards on downtown sidewalks.
