Troopers Stayed Busy Over Labor Day Weekend

By Staff – 3 Sept ’14

Wyoming State Troopers were busy over the Labor Day holiday weekend throughout the state. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reports that from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29th, until midnight on Monday, September 1st, troopers conducted 1100 traffic stops. From those stops, 17 impaired drivers were arrested, eight warrant arrests were made, two drug seizures were discovered and three miscellaneous arrests occurred.

Two arrests were made from the 46 impaired driving reports (REDDI Reports) that were called in by motorists to the Patrol through the weekend. A total of 63 crashes were investigated with one fatal crash and nine other crashes involving injury. Troopers assisted 99 motorists over the weekend as well.

As the campaign over the weekend was “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving”, troopers were primarily focused on identifying impaired drivers. Other violations that impact highway safety were also targeted such as nonuse of child and occupant restraints, speeding and other moving violations.
