Highway deaths in Wyoming so far this year are well ahead of the total count for all last year and police say distracted drivers are among the reasons why.
So far this year, 101 people have died in accidents on Wyoming’s roads and highways. That’s almost double the number this time last year and already over a dozen more than the number of vehicle fatalities in all of 2013.
Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Bruning tells KCWY TV cell phones and other distractions are among the top causes of fatal crashes.
Troopers say speeding and not using a seat belt are big problems, too.
Bruning says the combination of speeding and factors such as impaired driving can be a recipe for disaster.
