The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (BOPU) anticipates construction activities to begin on or around January 8, 2024 for a water main installation project on Southwest Drive.
This project consists of installing a new waterline under the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and connecting to the existing waterlines on West Lincolnway. Construction is expected through the end of February, depending on weather and material availability.
The BOPU will work diligently to keep businesses accessible, however this work will require a closure of Southwest Drive at the UPRR tracks for the duration of the project. Message boards will be placed prior to the closure to provide advance notice of when the road will be closed to traffic.
Water shut offs will be coordinated, but unfortunately unplanned emergency shut offs may occur.
This project will advance water service reliability for the area and is part of the BOPU’s initiative to accelerate and expand the City’s water infrastructure. Work will be completed by Aztec Construction Company.
