A man died on Thursday after an oil tank he was welding on exploded. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department reports that the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at Tri-State Oil Reclaimers west of Cheyenne and that a 52-year-old man died at the scene.
The identity of the deceased has yet to be released, pending notification of family. Coworkers at the scene said he had worked at Tri-State Oil Reclaimers for about a year and a half as a maintenance worker and called him diligent and hard working.
Laramie County Fire District 2 Chief Jason Caughey says one other man went to the hospital to be checked out.
Fire Districts 1, 2, 8, 10, City of Cheyenne Fire and Air Force Fire responded to the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
