CPD Arrests Suspect in Downtown Explosives Case

On September 20, 2017 Cheyenne Police Department Detectives arrested a 16 year old male suspect for Possession of Explosives, a felony, in reference to the explosive device that detonated on September 18, 2017 in downtown Cheyenne.  The identity of the suspect and his address are not being released at this time due to his status as a juvenile.

The Cheyenne and Laramie County Joint Bomb Squad, the Joint SWAT team, and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Laramie County, in search of evidence pertaining to the manufacturing and possession of explosives.

The suspect was interviewed at the Cheyenne Public Safety Center by Cheyenne Police Detectives where he was arrested.  The Cheyenne Police Department does not believe there is any continued threat of danger to the public regarding this event.

This case remains under an active investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
