A Cheyenne woman has died following a single vehicle rollover Saturday afternoon on US 85. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reports that Laura Veltkamp, 35, was driving an SUV northbound about 32 miles north of Cheyenne when she started to go off the road to the right and overcorrected several times before the SUV went into the ditch and rolled.
Veltkamp was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Four minor passengers who were also in the vehicle were hospitalized. One minor passenger also was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center by air ambulance.
Investigating troopers say distracted driving and improper lane use are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.
