Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey has been chosen to fill the state senate seat vacated by the late Sen. John Schiffer. Sheridan and Johnson County commissioners selected Kinskey from three candidates during a special joint meeting Monday morning.
After the vote, Kinskey said his first call would be to Senate President Tony Ross to see if Ross would like him to fill Schiffer’s spots on the Judiciary and Transportation committees, or have him contribute to different committees.
Kinskey will serve out the remainder of Schiffer’s term, which goes through 2016. The Sheridan City Council will appoint one of its council members to serve as Mayor until the next General Election.
Schiffer, a republican from Kaycee, died of cancer in June.
