The rodeo action at Cheyenne Frontier Days got started on Friday this year with the first ever Cinch Rodeo Shootout. Cowboys and cowgirls representing eight of the most prestigious rodeos in North America competed in their individual events and as a team in this winner take all event.
The top four in each event advanced to the second go where a bag of $10,000 cash was waiting for the champion. Richmond Champion won bareback with a score of 93 points, Lisa Lockhart took the barrels with a time of 16.97 seconds, Taos Muncy won Saddle Bronc with a 90 point ride, K.C. Jones was the steer wrestling champion at 8.89 seconds and J.W. Harris won the bull riding with 90 points.
The teams from Austin and Denver tied in the invitational event based on how each member placed, so they split the $6,000 prize.
