Cheyenne Police Say Bus Fly-Bys a Concern

By Staff – 27 Oct ’14

The Cheyenne Police Department is reminding motorists that they are required to stop when they approach any school bus that has its flashing red lights activated.

The Cheyenne Police Traffic Unit has received complaints from citizens and bus drivers about vehicles passing school buses with activated flashing red lights.

Drivers are required to stop for a bus with its flashing red lights activated even when the bus is parked in a curb cut-out, unless there is a physical barrier or non-paved median between the bus and the roadway. Drivers must remain stopped until the school bus turns off its flashing red lights.

In the city of Cheyenne, passing a school bus when its flashing red lights are on is a $225 citation.
