LCSD1 Board of Trustees offers Superintendent of Schools contract to Dr. Margaret Crespo

During its meeting on Monday, March 1, the Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees voted to offer a contract for the position of LCSD1 Superintendent of Schools to Dr. Margaret Crespo.

Immediately following the vote, Crespo signed the two-year contract, which will begin July 1. Her annual rate of pay will be $189,000.

Prior to her official start, Crespo will shadow current Superintendent of Schools Dr. Boyd Brown.

Crespo, who has been in education for nearly 30 years, serves as Area Superintendent, Southwest for Boulder Valley School District in Boulder, Colorado.

Crespo began her career as a teacher in Jersey City, New Jersey, before moving to Dysart School District in Surprise, Arizona where she served as a counselor, Assistant High School Principal, Interim Community Resources Director/Planning Principal and High School Principal. In Phoenix, Arizona, she became Director of Curriculum for Anytown Arizona.

Upon moving to Weld School District 6 in Greeley, Colorado, she became Principal at Heath and John Evans Middle Schools. Next, she served as Director of Secondary Services, Executive Director of Secondary Services and Chief Academic Officer/Chief Operations Officer for Thompson School District in Loveland, Colorado. In 2018, she moved to Boulder Valley School District where she became Assistant Superintendent, Secondary, before assuming her current role.

Crespo holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and history, and a master’s degree in counseling from Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, NJ. She also holds a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Arizona State University.
