A Burns man has been arrested on suspicion of 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of his wife on Sunday night in Burns. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department reports that Ron Zimmerman, 61, is in custody awaiting an initial court appearance on Tuesday morning.
Authorities say Zimmerman called 911 from his residence in Burns to report the shooting. Teresa Zimmerman, 51, was declared dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound.
Initial investigation indicates that there was an argument between the victim and the suspect and that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
Laramie County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Gerry Luce reports that there were minors in the residence when the incident took place. He says they will be interviewed Monday to determine what they may or may not have seen and heard.
The investigation is ongoing.
