Cheyenne Post 6 Eyes Six Straight [AUDIO]

The last time the AA State American Legion baseball tournament was held in Gillette, it wasn’t a memorable trip for Cheyenne Post 6.  They went to the Razor City having won seven straight state championships, but injuries, and a talented Gillette ballclub, ended that streak.  Now, the Sixers head to Gillette having won five straight state titles, and 12 of 13, but face some similar issues.  Post 6 has gone through a typical season, going 42-20 heading into state, but injuries have mounted as the season has gone on.

But as everyone remembers what happened in 2008, when the Roughriders snapped that streak, Post 6 manager Tagg Lain is reminded of where that streak started in 2001, which was Gillette.  But he adds that it’s still going to be a challenge.

The AA state tournament begins today (Wednesday) in Gillette.  It’s a five-team, double-elimination bracket.  Looking at the matchups:

Jackson vs.  Sheridan–7 pm

Cheyenne Post 6 vs.  Casper– 4 pm

Gillette vs.  Jackson/Sheridan winner –7 pm
