A one year old mountain lion was found in a Cheyenne neighborhood today. The Cheyenne Police Department closed down several blocks around Henderson Avenue while the Wyoming Game and Fish Department found and tranquilized the animal.

The mountain lion was transported over to Laramie, where testes will be conducted on it. Renny Mckay, spokesman for the Wyoming Game and Fish department, says mountain lions in some Wyoming communities is not rare, but it is for Cheyenne. “Mountain lions the age of this one tend to move a lot, so for a mountain lion this age to be on the ove and happen to run into an urban setting that tends to happen. However we have not had may instances of mountain lions in Cheyenne in recent years. So if they have been here they haven’t gotten into any trouble and they just moved on.”
