Toys For Tots Collects Over $4,000 in Cash and Toys at UW Football Game

Laramie, Wyo. – This coming Sunday, Dec. 13, the University of Wyoming Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host its annual SAAC Toys for Tots Carnival at the UniWyo Federal Credit Union Sports Complex located in the UW Athletics Department. UW’s SAAC works with Head Start of Laramie to invite children and make sure that each child invited receives a toy for the Holiday season.

On Saturday, Nov. 7 at the University of Wyoming football game versus Colorado State, the UW Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Laramie Detachment #777 of the Marine Corps League teamed up to collect Toys For Tots. Thanks to the generosity of people throughout the community, this year’s collection efforts were extremely successful.

A total of $4,053 and 28 unwrapped toys were donated. Over 100 UW student-athletes were involved in collecting the toys and cash donations from Wyoming fans. The cash donations were used to purchase toys for youth in Albany County.

The toys were then wrapped by Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes for presentation to children at the annual SAAC Toys for Tots Carnival on Dec. 13.

Toys For Tots is a program that has been coordinated for years by the United States Marine Corps Reserve. All toys donated this year will remain in Albany County.
