Longtime State legislator Senator Tony Ross is retiring after more than 20 years legislature. Ross made the announcement Wednesday from his law office in Cheyenne. Ross will finish out the remainder of his term which ends on December 31st.
“There’s a lot of work to be done in the next 7 months, so as chairman of appropriations it’s important that I stay on,” said Ross. “It’s entirely possible that we could even see a special session.”
Ross said he is not seeking re-election so he can devote more time to his family and his law practice, “It’s appropriate to consider new things, consider my family and to consider my own health. It’s appropriate to go out in my opinion on top.”
Ross did not rule out future political plans.
Ross served in the House from 1995-2004, and was elected to the Senate in 2005. He served as Senate Vice President from 2009-2010, as the Senate Majority Floor Leader in 2011-2012, and the Senate President in 2013-2014.
